Sources of Stormwater Pollution
There are many causes of stormwater pollution that end up contaminating the Potomac River.

Households
One of the main sources of pollutants that contribute to the stormwater pollution is from households. Many deposits of pesticides, pet waste, fertilizers, on the lawn, trash in the driveway, antifreeze , dirt on the rooftop and petroleum, spoiled motor oil in the parking lot.

Factories
Factories are often situated near the Potomac river, where transportation is more efficient. Despite the great utilitarianism of the water way provided, many of the factories are dilapidated to storm. Factories left behind ashes, coals and petroleum, near the dock, which can easily be blown by a wind to the Potomac river or leak into the nearby Potomac River as a form of stormwater pollutions.
